Mary Ann Podolak was born in Chicago and raised near Washington D.C. She studied Art at Brown University and then trained in stage design and scene painting at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in England. She worked as a scenic artist at Trinity Repertory Company in Providence before moving into advertising design and illustration, eventually serving as art director at a small agency. Later, she was assistant director of the Pawtucket Arts Council for seven years.
Now based in the waterfront village of Wickford, R.I., she enjoys painting, restoring her historic home, gardening, and beachcombing. For over 40 years, her acrylic paintings have earned awards across New England.
