“I enjoy many styles of painting and use a variety of challenging, innovative mediums and materials to create art. I work in acrylic mixed media, collage, watercolor, ink, resin, oil, textile, and last but not least, my favorite… encaustic.
I am drawn to artwork with mixed media and texture, so encaustic has proven to be the perfect medium for me to paint with. My body of work is often abstract with many layers of wax. You may find vintage papers, lace, rusty nails, matchbook covers and other interesting objects in my paintings. Working with encaustic wax is a very satisfying and meditative process.
I love that it is multi-sensory: the smell of the beeswax, the texture it creates, the sound of the hotplate cracking as it heats up or cools down, the vibrancy of colors, and the sheen of the cooled wax.
I also love that it is an ancient medium, with so much rich history.”
